Nottinghamshire County Council - Proud of our past, ambitious for our future
.

Archaeology

The County Council is responsible for looking after archaeological sites and remains in Nottinghamshire.

The Historic Environment Record catalogues and describes the archaeology of Nottinghamshire. It includes thousands of records and information about archaeological sites and features of local historic interest in every parish.

If you need advice about the care and management of archaeological sites, or if you've discovered an archaeological object or site, please contact us and we'll try and help you.

We encourage archaeological research and the development of partnerships to promote understanding and appreciation of the historic character of every area.

We can also advise and assist in projects such as village maps or local heritage initiatives.
