Animal movement licences

Our Trading Standards officers safeguard the health and welfare of farm animals and livestock.

Following the foot and mouth outbreak new licensing rules which control the movement of farm animals were introduced. Sheep, pigs, cattle and goats all need licences before they can be moved.

Movement documents and application forms can be obtained from the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs website: www.defra.gov.uk.

If you are a trader and would like advice about animal movement licences, contact Trading Standards.
