A publically maintained road (also sometimes referred to as an 'adopted' road) means a road that is repaired and maintained by the local authority. If you live in Nottinghamshire, Nottinghamshire County Council is the local authority responsible for maintaining these roads.
Some roads are not publically maintained. This means the local residents are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the road, pavements and streetlights.
Trunk roads - the A1, A52, A46, A453 and M1 - are the responsibility of A-one+, tel: 0844 372 8381 or e-mail: enquiries@aone.uk.com
